I'm surprised that I have not seen this kind of question in any deviant's journal or news article.
Why are we here? Because we love art! Watching it, producing it... who cares! The pleasure is all ours!
I just have this idea in my recent journal, about sharing links or just names. Sometimes we may think we know enough about the art world.... but, do we? I don't think so, this world is inmense and when we think we have seen everything, there is always something to keep surprising us.
The idea of this topic is pretty simple... You just have to talk about your favourite artist/s. You can provide descriptions about their style, links to their sites if any or links to Google images so we all can discover new things and feed our eyes and mind.
You can also name deviantArt's artists, but it would be funnier if we discover artists from the "outside", because there are more chances we know dA people, isn't it? Anyways, you're welcome to post wathever you think is the most impressive thing that makes you dream and feel.
I hope you feel participative and we get to learn and discover a lot!
So to give some example, I'll give you some of my favourite artists and even some I had the pleasure to discover in my journal thanks to this idea:
Travis Smith: One of the fathers of contemporany digital Dark Art, with incredible imagination and skill domain, you surely know him because of his covers for the bands Anathema, Katatonia, Opeth or Amorphis amongst many others!
Giorgio de Chirico: One of the greatest surreal traditional painters during the Avantgarde.
Max Ernst: A really polifacetic and productive artist, from surrealism to dadaism, but always with a particular sign of quality.
Misha Gordin: An incredible traditional film photographer that showed the world what a man is able to do into a darkroom. Surreal and conceptual dreamscapes that shows us that photomanipulation can be done out of a computer!
Michael Parkes: A contemporany traditional painter, with amazing imagination, out of this world!
Zademack: Another surreal and fantasy painter, with tons of conceptualism and great developed aesthetics on his work.
Jan Saudek</b>: For photography lovers, you'll meet one of the most impressive authors in this field!
So well, that is my selection between my personal favourites and some artists that people recommended me, so now it's your turn! Post your beloved authors and don't forget to check other people's thoughs to discover new art!
Cheers, and have fun!

Manip Academy #10: Blending Fire
There is an easy, fast way to blend fire into any scene. This won't work in some cases but on average is a nice method to make a basic and realistic blending. Here, we will create a body out of fire. This is our base composition:
What you need to do is to place your favorite fire photos (preferably on dark/black backgrounds) on Screen blending mode. At first sight there's something missing, and that is the dark areas of the fire, which are muted due to our blending mode.
Create a new layer between the fire layers and your subject and use the Brush tool with medium Opacity and Flow and black color (a dark brown/orange might work as well, dep
